A 5.3 magnitude earthquake has hit southern Spain - 120km south west of Alicante. The latest reports say that 10 people have died. This is the worst earthquake to have hit the region in 50 years.
Although the quake does not score highly on the magnitude scale, the fact that it was very near the surface (0.6 miles) has meant that the impact has been severe.
The area affected is close to a major fault line in the Mediterranean Sea.
