Watching 'A South American Journey with Jonathan Dimbleby this evening, I was amazed to learn that rather than campaigning for an end to child labour in Bolivia, Child workers have been fighting to protect it.
Child workers formed a trade union, taking their views to the government to have the right of children to work enshrined in the constitution. Children see being able to work as their right, rather than a form of abuse. How likely is it that this view would be shared in the UK?
Watch the programme here. The section on child workers in La Paz is approximately 45 minutes into the programme (after the section on wrestling!).
